5 Reasons to Send Flowers in September
Posted by Enchanted Florist on 31st Aug 2015
Although September is not traditionally considered a month of holidays or celebrations, there are plenty of reasons to send flowers this month. September marks the end of Summer and the beginning of Autumn, as well as being a month to recognize those who work. Maybe the changing of seasons or the labor of friends and loved ones is not enough reason to visit with your local florist, but here are 5 reasons to send flowers in September!
- Patriot Day (September 11th) was designated in 2002 to remember those who died in the terrorist attacks on this day in the previous year. Some will lay flowers at the graves of loved ones, while others will offer more general memorials, by placing flowers at public monuments. Every public servant who works in the field of law enforcement deserves a flower today too!
- Selichot (September 5th)is an ancient Jewish holiday occurring the week before the beginning of Rosh Hashana (Jewish New Year). Even if you are not Jewish, this is a day to exercise the human capacity to forgive; a day to request and bestow forgiveness. Many also visit cemeteries on this day.
- International Day of Peace (September 21st) was begun by the United Nations in 1981 and became a permanent holiday in 2002. Promoting world-wide peace is the goal of this day. Purchase living plants on this day to signify planting the seeds of peace.
- First Day of Fall (September 23rd) is marked by the Autumnal Equinox, when day and night are of equal length in the Northern Hemisphere. Traditionally a day of appreciation of nature and the harvest, autumn bouquets and centerpieces are ideal celebratory gifts, or simply exquisite home decor!
- National School Success Month is celebrated all month long. Give your favorite student a beautiful floral remembrance to let them know they are special and to encourage them to keep up the good work!
